Five Rules for Writing Well-Formed XML Documents:

  1. Have one root element
  2. No space in the element name
  3. All elements must be correctly nested and terminated
    1. End name matches start name
    2. Empty tags are terminated as <tagName/>
  4. Make it case sensitive
  5. Enclose all attribute values in quotes
