Notes for Raleigh Perl Mongers Meeting

January 21, 1999

These notes are sparse... Bill's presentation was well-done and well-received, and not a whole lot took place that night other than Bill's talk and the ensuing discussion. :-) Bill's presentation is online, per the link below.

The meeting began with a brief confession that I'd done way too much talking at the last meeting and wasn't going to make that mistake this time. :-)

We had a couple of new faces in the crowd, as well as about a dozen folks from last time. After another round of introductions, we got right into Bill Cowan's presentation on using perl with databases, and Win32::ODBC in particular (as well as a smattering of DBI and Sybperl). Bill did a great job, and was greeted by a number of questions as well as a follow-on discussion on the same topic.

The next meeting will occur on Thursday, February 18th, 1999 at 7:15pm in Dreyfus Auditorium, and will feature a talk by Derek Lane on using perl to tackle "weird and horrible data formats".
